Nuanu Unveils Bali’s First 3D-Printed Bus Stop: A Prototype For Creative Urban Design

Nuanu Creative City has unveiled Bus Stop Enam, the sixth official bus stop within its 44-hectare district and the first structure in Nuanu built using 3D printing technology. This prototype reflects Nuanu’s ongoing curiosity about emerging construction methods and how they can be meaningfully applied in the context of public, artistic, and sustainable spaces.

Bus Stop Enam was constructed using the L3D1 model, a single-arm construction printer, and completed in just four days. Key design features include pre-programmed solid segments that increase structural integrity and reduce future maintenance, as well as built-in slots that streamline transport and reassembly.

"We're fortunate to have the freedom to explore new tools and techniques like 3D printing," said Lev Kroll, CEO of Nuanu Creative City. "This bus stop gave us a chance to test its potential in a practical setting, to explore form, speed, and functionality while staying grounded in our design values. It’s still early days, but understanding this technology's possibilities and limitations is a step toward building more intelligently and creatively."

Bus Stop Enam now functions as a real, operational part of Nuanu’s internal mobility system. The learnings from this pilot will help guide how such technologies might be used to select features in future developments, always in balance with Nuanu’s broader commitment to craftsmanship, sustainability, and thoughtful design.

Nuanu is already home to a small 3D printing research lab focused on architectural experimentation, where new design forms, structural techniques, and sustainable materials are being explored. As part of its future plans, Nuanu aims to expand this lab into an educational hub where children can engage with emerging technologies in hands-on, imaginative ways. The vision includes developing creative learning modules around digital fabrication and design thinking, offering young minds a playful yet practical introduction to innovation. By combining experimentation with outreach, Nuanu hopes to inspire the next generation of thinkers and builders.
