30+ gyms across Bali with 40 fighters unite in Nuanu Creative City under one mission — to fund cancer research initiated by Germ Cell
If you live in or regularly visit Bali, you’ve likely heard about this remarkable fighting event that has been trailblazing cancer research since 2022. 40 fighters across over 30 gyms will gather at Nuanu, competing to prove that combat sports can drive real social impact. This year, Nuanu is honored to become the center of this initiative, further solidifying the creative city’s mission to drive positive change across Greater Bali. Fight for a Cure is an initiative founded by Kai Suteja—a two-time cancer survivor and a prominent youth figure in Bali—who is on a mission to give back to those affected by the illness.
“Sometimes what’s most important for us is the opportunity to show how much we love giving back to our community. Fight for a Cure is an incredible initiative led by Kai, and we’re beyond happy to contribute in any way we can,” said Lev Kroll, CEO of Nuanu Creative City. “At Nuanu, we always strive to combine entertainment with purpose. These are often seen as separate worlds, but we’re proving they can coexist, and we’re excited to see Nuanu become the centerstage for meaningful events like this particular one.”
Apart from providing the space where good things happen, the Nuanu Social Fund (NSF) has also contributed to this impactful initiative. Through NSF, Nuanu donated Rp45,000,000 to help facilitate cancer research efforts, joining other brands that share the same commitment to building resilient communities across Bali.
“There’s always room for collaboration, and it goes far beyond brand partnerships. Nuanu is, and always will be, open to all kinds of impact-driven initiatives like the one led by Germ Cell,” said Ida Ayu Astari Prada, Brand & Communications Director, Nuanu Creative City. “Our foundation, the Nuanu Social Fund (NSF), is always ready to support meaningful projects and we welcome anyone, from Bali and beyond, to submit their own initiatives that create real impact. Every human being has the right to access healthcare, and in this case, cancer care. Fight for a Cure is helping make that possible through the incredible support of the Bali community, and for that, we’re deeply grateful.”
Since its founding in 2022, Germ Cell—initatied by Kai Suteja, a youth figure with Balinese heritage—has been collaborating with Chris O’Brien Lifehouse—a world-leading cancer research institute—and Dr. Alexander, a specialist in brain cancer research using advanced technology. It has raised over Rp1.1 billion since it was founded and will keep increasing over time with a mission to save lives. As a creative city built to celebrate creativity, collaboration, and life itself, Nuanu continues to grow as a community for communities, empowering initiatives that create lasting impact for Bali and beyond.
“I’ve fought cancer not once, but twice, and this journey has not been easy and this is exactly why we’re doing this at Germ Cell,” said Kai Suteja, Founder of Germ Cell. “I’m deeply grateful to everyone who has joined Germ Cell’s mission and to Nuanu for hosting such a meaningful event. Together as a community in Bali, we’ll continue to do good—proving that fighting isn’t just about competition, but about standing up for a greater cause.”
Fight for a Cure took place at Block42, Nuanu Creative City, on 11 October 2025, starting from 16.00 WITA. The event invites everyone to witness over 30 gyms from across Bali coming together to fight for those in need.
